Cross-System Compatibility Architecture

The canonical home of BitPangea’s interoperability and cross-system compatibility architecture.

Interoperability is the provisional architectural domain for the standards, mappings, contracts, and compatibility rules that allow independent BitPangea systems, implementations, services, and future technologies to exchange authoritative meaning without creating competing versions of World truth. Its purpose is to preserve coherence across diverse systems while allowing implementation freedom above the permanent architectural core.

This page establishes the permanent institutional home for that architecture within The Atlas. It is intentionally concise while the governing record is being formalized, allowing the domain to remain visible without presenting incomplete interoperability standards or compatibility mechanisms as established architecture.

Atlas Working Principle Independent systems may differ in implementation while remaining accountable to the same canonical meaning.

Standing

Structural Domain

The architectural domain through which independent BitPangea systems can exchange canonical meaning, preserve compatibility, and remain mutually intelligible without requiring a single implementation. Its responsibility is cross-cutting and may apply across multiple Architecture domains rather than occupying one fixed position in a universal dependency stack.

Status

Provisional as an Atlas architectural domain. Its purpose and boundary are established at a working level; its exact standards, interfaces, compatibility contracts, and conformance mechanisms remain open.

Authority

The Foundation and The Codex constrain what must remain true. The Atlas records the architectural design through which those truths receive durable structural expression.

Purpose of This Space

Interoperability exists to ensure that BitPangea can remain coherent across independent implementations, services, data representations, and future technologies. Systems may differ internally while still exchanging references, records, identities, spatial meaning, and other authoritative information in forms that can be deterministically understood and verified across the wider World architecture.

Its governing direction is deliberately bounded: enable compatibility without forcing every system to share the same codebase, database, protocol stack, or internal design. Interoperability should preserve canonical meaning across boundaries while allowing implementation technologies to evolve independently. Translation may change representation; it must not redefine the truth being translated.

Atlas Working Principle Many systems. Shared meaning.
Architectural Boundary Interoperability connects implementations without creating competing canonical truths.

Dependency standing: Interoperability depends upon stable canonical meanings defined elsewhere in The Architecture, but no strict linear position has yet been established between Interoperability and Identity / Rights / Control, Persistence / Provenance, World Runtime, or Experience Architecture. Its relationships should be resolved individually as those domains mature.
