Codex ST-III establishes the third formal definition within the Structural Domain of BitPangea. Before GPS, latitude, longitude, mathematics, measurement, or implementation, the coordinate is acknowledged as the cartographic reference by which position is described.

It describes where a Parcel exists within BitPangea without creating position, ownership, territory, claim, or meaning.

The Definition

The existence of a parcel within BitPangea implies position.

A coordinate exists not to create position, ownership, value, territory, or claim, but to describe position within the world.

Without coordinates, position may exist but cannot be formally referenced.

Without reference, the map cannot speak clearly about place.

Formal Definition

A Coordinate is the cartographic reference by which the position of a Parcel is uniquely described within BitPangea.

A coordinate describes position; it does not create position.

A coordinate exists to reference the position of a parcel within BitPangea.

Uniqueness

Each coordinate uniquely describes the position of one parcel within the world.

Dependence

A coordinate depends upon the existence of position, but does not create the position it describes.

Permanence

Once established within the canonical structure of the world, a coordinate cannot be erased, reassigned, or replaced.

Neutrality

A coordinate does not assign value, purpose, status, rights, ownership, or meaning. It merely describes position.

Principles Established by Codex ST-III

1. Position Precedes Description

A parcel possesses position because it exists within BitPangea. A coordinate describes that position. It does not create it.

2. Coordinates Make Position Referable

Position may exist without being known, named, mapped, or described. Coordinates allow position to be referenced within the cartographic record.

3. A Coordinate Is Not a Claim

A coordinate describes where a parcel is. It does not determine who may claim, steward, govern, inhabit, or use it.

4. Coordinates Belong to the Map

Coordinates are part of the cartographic structure of BitPangea. They do not belong to any person, institution, community, or parcel owner.

5. Representation Is Not Implementation

A coordinate may one day be expressed through numbers, symbols, grids, indexes, mathematics, or other systems. Such systems represent coordinates. They do not define the constitutional concept itself.

This Codex acknowledges the existence and necessity of coordinates as cartographic references.

It does not establish:

  • Coordinate systems
  • Mathematical axes
  • Latitude or longitude
  • GPS equivalents
  • Measurement units
  • Terrain, elevation, or depth
  • Cartographic implementation

These questions remain subjects for future inquiry.
